You know you're in the restaurant business when you open an email entitled 'Beefier Weiners' and think it's a solicitation from a food supplier...

Random Thots from My Deck Chair...

Well, I've been off from work this week for the first time in a bit. Funny when you get the thing you think you really want, (you know, time off, a hummer, haha, a man!) you wonder what you thought was soooo good about it in the first place and why it's not all you've cracked it up to be... This week has been a vivid reminder of my schitzoid, jobless, at home years enjoying mega doses of prozac. It's had me swinging like a freakin yoyo.

Anyways, I'm telling you this because, being reminded of those mind bending mommy days, I wanted to share the only 'mommy' blog on the planet worth reading. She calls herself Dooce and man, I wish she lived around the corner from me. We'd likely be seeing the same psychiatrist.

She writes about the ordinary stuff of motherhood, like at 10 months pregnant, passing her mucous plug, retrieving it and accidentally leaving it on the bathroom counter. Only later to have it discovered by her 5 year old daughter who thinks it's a slug. She posts photos of moles she suspects may be malignant, (very pertinent to me as just this week, I've surgically removed 2 suspicious sightings with my fingernail) relates tales of regretful drunken episodes (yup, that too...) and brags about the 'kick ass' name she's bestowed upon her new born daughter. O and did I mention she's a recovering Mormon? I'm not a Mormon, but I think we may have something similar going on there too.

Meanwhile, to avoid any more eating myself alive with this glorious freedom, I'm about to pour myself a pineapply coconutty something and head back to the deck to work on my skin cancer...
