These are made of pink coloured butter! Amazing, hey?

I probably won't see this movie cuz stories about sick kids, especially true ones like this, make me choke. But I love the title and tagline.

Pat Robertson on Haiti

There is no other word for it. Pat Robertson is a douche.

Saturday, January 16, 2010

I was reading something recently where a christian commented about the current Haiti disaster. 'Praise the Lord' they gushed, 'we were scheduled to be in Haiti on that very day, and would have died in the quake. God intervened, changed our plans and saved us.'

Arrogant suck asses. I'd like to know why they think their lives are so important for God to intervene and change their plans, while the poor 200,000 dead Haitians had no such assistance...

So it's January 12th today and I still have my christmas tree up. This is a huge anomoly for me, since I'm usually ripping away every hint of Christmas December 26th. But this year, I just trimmed and redecorated the tree on January 10th and have no intention of taking it down til Spring. This year, I'm keeping it as a winter tree. It'll last for months, flocked in fire retardant cellulose and expensive as heck.

I'm not much of a symbolism person, but the past month has sucked so bad, and left me so baked, I figure what can it hurt to keep a tree to play with.

And mark the good things that happen. A recovered from surgery tree!, a birthday tree!, a valentines tree!

Sometimes you just need a pretty sparkly thing to remind you to hope.

Monday Morning Religious Rant

I think it's utterly ridiculous to proclaim, 'PRAISE GOD!' over finding a missing drill chuck key.

Lost & found objects are purely a matter of human cause and effect. Nothing to do with God (if such exists) at all.

And honestly, if God does exist, I hope to hell is at work on more important things than retrieving missing drill chuck keys...

Week One - 2009

7 hours sleep this week
6 conflicting medical opinions
5 completely misleading test results
4 days in ER
3 specialists
2 medical staff confrontations
1 11pm emergency surgery that saved her life.

Never let the medical system push you around when you know something is not right with your child.

We just turned in the keys to the Bad Dog. I don't know why but I wasn't expecting to feel so traumatized. I came home to an empty house feeling like I'd been to a funeral. The worst part being over, but knowing that the closure process will still take ages, and probably convert itself into an obsessive compulsive imaginary cancerous lump somewhere. Yup, that's the way to process stress & change, never look it straight in the face - just imagine a horrifying death instead...

When the BD had it's first brush with closure in the summer, Scott sent me the death email saying his wife was done with the place, and he didn't know what to do or think so he was going to the movies.

That's what I'm doing now. The Princess and the Frog at 2:35, Sherlock Holmes at 4:00, Invictus at 7:10, and Avatar 3D at 10:35.

I do not want to think, feel, process, reminisce, or talk. I don't want to pretend things are ok.

Thank dog for Hollywood.
