Here's an interesting bit of trivia if you happen to be using a cell phone or wireless internet today. In 1885, when Heinrich Rudolf Hertz discovered electro magnetic waves in Germany, he commented,

"I do not think that the wireless waves I have discovered will have any practical application.”

Hertz was mostly correct. The cell phone is not practical. It is nothing more than a status symbol you can easily live without. I have never owned or needed one. When people use cell phones in my classroom, I take the cell phone away and smash it with a hammer.

I just got a new cell phone. I love the mp3 player in it, the camera, texting to locate my kids and having a private line i don't have to share with 6 people.

Don't worry, I won't use it in your classroom!
